The adventure began in April of 2008 when Sharron's water broke at 24 weeks, then kicked into high gear at 28 weeks when Tyler was born. Now Tyler is a toddler and loving life.

Staphylococcus aureus
The first culture is back. Tyler has a case of Staphylococcus aureus around his PICC (Central Line). They just got a new standard IV into his foot so that they can give him his meds, Tyler was not thrilled. We are all glad that we caught this in time and that we didn't make it to the OR yesterday. Surgery with Staph a would be really bad! The plan is to remove the PICC later today. Overall a good day, Tyler is alert and pulling at his vent tube. His head looks great with all the new room to move around in there.

OK Tyler - Be sure to let everyone know who's in charge when they come to remove the PICC..........if they're on this roller coaster ride with all of us, I hope they're up to the challenges of a spunky little boy!!! Don't pull too hard on that vent tube, just enough to keep everyone on their toes!
We'll see you tomorrow afternoon!
Sounds like the little man just wants to keep everyone on their toes! He just wants to be in control of the situation. He's got quite the personality. :)
Give him kisses and hugs from me.
Hope to see you soon!

Ah, Staph. This is the most common bug that attacks PICCS and luckily the easiest to kill. Sounds like you all are doing a great job of getting everything done that he needs. It also sounds like Tyler is doing a great job at keeping you on your toes.
